Cocina de Autor: Best Hotel Restaurant in Mexico

On Tuesday October 29th the Gourmet Awards, organized by Travel + Leisure magazine of the Expansion Group, took place in the city of Campeche. The ceremony began with a parade of hosts on a black carpet and a number of delicious appetizers and beverages were featured during the evening.
The best of the culinary arts of Mexico were recognized in 12 categories- these included Best Hotel Restaurant, won by Cocina de Autor of Grand Velas Riviera Maya (headed by Chef Xavier Perez Stone) for its molecular Basque cuisine. The restaurant was conceptualized by Chefs Bruno Oteiza and Mikel Alonso; during the same gala they won the most important award: "Best of the Best" for their restaurant Biko in Mexico City.
